New Health Sciences Centre opens in Coquitlam 
May 2, 2008  New Health Sciences was officially opened on My 10 at Douglas College's David Lam campus in Coquitlam by Premier Gordon Campbell. It creates spaces for 1,500 more students – primarily in health-care professions including nursing and seniors' care. 

Awards Honour Excellence in B.C. Public Service 
March 11, 2008  Victoria – Premier Gordon Campbell showcased BC Public Service employees from across the Province and announced the recipients of seven Premier’s Innovation and Excellence Awards at a ceremony last night in Victoria.

February 21, 2008  Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management joins forces with RBC. Clients to benefit from combination of two asset management leaders. TORONTO and VANCOUVER, February 21, 2008 — Royal Bank of Canada (RY on TSX and NYSE) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management Ltd. (PH&N). The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions and is expected to close on or about April 30, 2008.  

New Gateway Visitor Centre to Welcome Guests to British Columbia 
February 21, 2008  Vancouver – International visitors to British Columbia will enjoy top level service and information in the brand new Peace Arch Gateway Visitors Centre starting in February 2009, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today. Premier Campbell unveiled the design of the new $4.6-million building during his address to the Council of Tourism Associations’ annual conference in Vancouver. Most of the 4,800-square-foot space – 85 per cent – will be public space. Special features include a theatre, currency exchange service and flags of B.C.’s neighbours Washington, Oregon and California.

November 23, 2007  Victoria – Premier Gordon Campbell will promote B.C.’s expertise in green technology and life sciences, as well as opportunities in trade, education and investment as he leads a mission to China and India Nov. 27 through Dec. 7. “British Columbia has expertise in the development of innovative, green technology and there are opportunities in China and India, which have rapidly growing economies and are looking for ways to expand that are environmentally sustainable,” said Campbell. “We have an incredible opportunity to make connections that will benefit British Columbia and the world, both economically and environmentally.”

September 17, 2007  CRANBROOK – The completion of $32 million in renovations and upgrades at East Kootenay Regional Hospital means fewer patients will have to travel to receive diagnostic imaging services like ultrasounds, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.
