Canada announces parent and grandparent ‘Super Visa.’
The Super Visa is a multiple entry visa valid for up to 10 years, which will allow family members to remain in Canada for up to 24 months at a time.
Starting December 1, 2011 you may be entitled to apply for the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa and enjoy staying with your family in Canada for up to two years without the need to renew your status.
On average, the processing time for the Super Visa will be within eight weeks and families will no longer have to wait numerous years to be reunited in Canada.
The visa is conditional on a number of requirements, one of which is a proof of private medical insurance coverage.
Family sponsors in Canada must also show evidence that they can financially support their parents and grandparents and the visitors need to prove, that they have ties to the home country.
To be accepted, the visitors will be required to have private health insurance coverage during their stay in Canada
The coverage must:
- Be valid for a minimum of 1 year
- Provide a minimum coverage of $100,000
- Cover health care, hospitalization and repatriation
- Be valid for each entry to Canada and available for review by a port of entry officer
